Back pain is different from one person to the next. The pain can have a slow onset or come on suddenly. The pain my come or go or be constant it just varies depending on the type of activities you take part in. It can also be caused by age since aging causes degenerative changes in the spine.

- A combination of therapeutic treatments and medications often also help to relieve pain effectively.
Patients should consider surgery after trying the nonsurgical options for 6 months – a year.
- Spinal Fusion
- The basic idea is to fuse together the painful vertebrae so that they heal into a single, solid bone.
- Disc Replacement
- This surgery involves removing the disk and replacing it with artificial parts. The goal of disk replacement is to allow the spinal segment to keep some flexibility and maintain more normal motion.
Although low back pain is inevitable at some point in your life, there are things that can be done to lessen the impact of low back problems.
- Combine aerobic exercises with exercises to keep the muscles in your back and abdomen strong and flexible
- Proper Lifting
- Be sure to lift heavy items with your legs and not your back. Keep your back straight and bend at your knees.
- Maintain a healthy weight because being overweight puts added stress on your lower back.
- Avoid Smoking
- Both the smoke and nicotine cause your spine to age faster than normal.
- Proper Posture
- Good posture is important to avoid future problems.
